Privacy Policy

Turnwater is a fishing-forecast web app. This page says plainly what we collect, why, who else receives it, and how to get it deleted. If anything here is unclear, email xxmonsterbeatzxx@gmail.com.

The short version. You can use the forecast without an account and without telling us who you are. If you create an account we store your email, a scrambled password, and anything you choose to save (spots and catches). We do not sell your data. Your catch log and saved spots are private to your account. Google may show ads to free-tier visitors and uses cookies to do so; you can opt out of personalised ads.

1. What we collect

DataWhenWhy
Location you search or tap (place name or coordinates)Every forecast requestTo find the nearest tide station and build your forecast. Sent to our server; not stored against you unless you save the spot.
Your device's GPS positionOnly after your browser asks you and you allow it: when you tap "Use my location", open the spot finder, or search (so results near you come first)To pinpoint the forecast, find fishing spots around you, and rank search results by distance. For "Use my location" it is converted to a place name; for search and the spot finder it is rounded and used only for that request. Not stored against you.
Email address and passwordWhen you create an accountTo sign you in. Passwords are stored only as a one-way scrypt hash; we cannot read them.
Saved spots (name + coordinates)When you save a spotSo your spots follow you across devices. Before you sign in they live only in your browser.
Catch log (species, time, location, notes)When you log a catchYour private fishing record. Only your account can read it.
IP addressEvery requestRate limiting, abuse prevention, and counting free searches for visitors without an account. Our web server does not keep access logs.
Visit statisticsWhen a page loadsCounts of page views, device type (phone/desktop), the website that linked you here, and which features are used. Unique visitors are counted with a scrambled code that changes every day, made from your IP address and browser type with a secret key — the IP address itself is never stored, and the codes are deleted after about 13 months. No cookie is set for this and no outside analytics company is involved.
Session cookieWhile signed inKeeps you signed in for up to 30 days. HttpOnly and Secure; we store only a hash of it.
Beach Cast game progressWhile you play signed inYour game save (money, gear, catches, island, angler name) so it follows you across devices. Your angler name, bank and empire score can appear on the public Top anglers / Empires boards; tournament results, roulette bets and island raids are recorded so they can be settled fairly. Game money can't be bought or cashed out.
Beach Cast friends and crewsWhen you add friends or join a crewYour friend code, friends list, blocks and gifts, so you can play together. While you're in a crew, friends see your angler name, where you're fishing and your in-game activity. Crew chat messages are passed straight to your crew and are not stored.
Voice chat (microphone)Only after you tap to join voice and your browser asks youTalk to friends at your crew or a private roulette table. Audio goes directly between the players' devices (peer to peer); it never passes through or is recorded on our servers. We only relay the short connection handshake. Voice is limited to friends' crews and private tables.
ReportsWhen you report another playerThe report, who it's about and recent chat context are kept so we can review it and act on abuse.
Browser storage (localStorage)Always, on your device onlyRemembers things like whether you have seen the welcome screen, dismissed the install prompt, and your spots before sign-in. Never sent to us.

We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment card numbers, or contacts. We do not track you across other websites.

2. Services that receive data on your behalf

Building a forecast means asking public data providers about the water near your spot. Our server makes these requests, so these providers see our server, not you, unless noted.

3. Advertising and cookies

Turnwater may show ads from Google AdSense to visitors who are not on Turnwater Pro. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

Other than the session cookie above and Google's advertising cookies, Turnwater sets no cookies and uses no analytics trackers.

4. Payments

When paid plans launch, payments will be handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our server; we receive only a customer reference and the subscription status. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that data.

5. How long we keep data

6. Deleting your data

You can delete your account yourself, inside the app: open your account (tap your name at the top), choose Delete my account, and confirm with your password. Your account, saved spots and catch log are erased immediately and permanently. If you cannot sign in, email xxmonsterbeatzxx@gmail.com from the address on your account and we will do it for you. You can also delete individual spots and catches inside the app at any time.

7. Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed with scrypt. Session tokens are stored only as hashes, so a copy of our database cannot be used to sign in as you. Access to your spots and catches is checked on every request against your account.

8. Children

Turnwater is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion, using the contact address above. We do not sell personal information and have not done so.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
